  • The Catholic University of Daegu takes pride in its long history and tradition as the first college in the Yeongnam region while preparing to celebrate its centennial anniversary in 2014. As the largest Catholic university in the nation, the university has more than 13,500 students majoring in 63 different majors in 10 different departments across 16 separate colleges at three separate campuses: the HyoSung Campus in Hayang (Gyeongsan), the Luka Campus in Daemyeong (Daegu), and the Justino Campus in Namsan (Daegu).

  • The Catholic University of Daegu was recently selected for inclusion in all three major higher education projects sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Science, and
  • Technology, namely the LINC (Leaders in Industry-university Cooperation) , ACE (Advancement for College Education, and Increased Academic Competitiveness. The Catholic University of Daegu is one of 15 universities nationwide to receive funding for all three projects.

      • Having been part of the ACE project from its first year, the Catholic University of Daegu was recognized by the government as a ¡°center of teaching excellence.¡± Building on this success, the university is striving to become an institution that helps foster creative and multicultural human resources with character and competence.

     

     

    • Specialized areas of the university : medicine, pharmaceuticals, public health, and the biological sciences

    • The Catholic University of Daegu is creating the best health science education infrastructure in the region with various research institutes and an affiliated university hospital, along with the colleges of medicine, pharmaceutical science, medical science, and bio-medical industry. The university is attempting to cement its position as a Medi-University while at the same time participating in the planning and development of the Advanced Medical Industry Service Cluster, located near the main campus.

    • To ease the financial burden faced by students, the Catholic University of Daegu provides more scholarship grants than any other large university (with a student population exceeding 10,000 students) in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region through a variety of scholarship programs (based on data and statistics released in the Korean Universities Information Report 2012). The university is also in the final stages of remodeling each individual college and upgrading the university¡¯s educational facilities and resources in order to provide students with an educational environment that is more pleasant and convenient. To ensure students integrate into society successfully after they graduate, the university has taken additional steps to provide students with a variety of programs by creating the nation¡¯s best employment search support system.
